Decline in United States' Wooden Particle Board Imports to $494K in July 2023

U.S. Wooden Particle Board Imports
In July 2023, the import of wooden particle board into the United States decreased to 958 cubic meters, showing a decline of 11.4% compared to the previous month. However, the overall trend in imports remained relatively flat during the review period. The most significant growth rate was observed in January 2023, with a 148% month-on-month increase, reaching the peak of 1.6K cubic meters. From February 2023 to July 2023, import growth failed to regain momentum.
In terms of value, the import of wooden particle board dropped slightly to $494K in July 2023, according to IndexBox estimates. Overall, the imports showed a slight increase, with the highest growth rate recorded in January 2023, reaching 147% compared to the previous month and reaching the peak of $728K. However, from February 2023 to July 2023, import growth failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country
In July 2023, Canada was the largest supplier of wooden particle board to the United States, accounting for 76% of total imports with 725 cubic meters. Canada's imports of wooden particle board exceeded those of the second-largest supplier, China, by four times with 196 cubic meters.
From July 2022 to July 2023, Canada experienced an average monthly volume growth rate of 2.0%.
In terms of value, Canada ($307K) and China ($159K) were the top suppliers of wooden particle board to the United States.

The most significant rate of growth was observed in April 2023, with a 31% month-on-month increase, reaching the peak level of $625K per thousand cubic meters. From May 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices remained somewhat lower.
Import prices varied significantly by the country of origin, with China having the highest price of $810 per cubic meter, while Canada had one of the lowest prices at $423 per cubic meter.
From July 2022 to July 2023, China showed the most notable price growth with an increase of 12.7%, while the prices for other major suppliers experienced a decline.
