Turkey Motorcycle And Bicycle Import Price in July 2023

The import price of motorcycles and bicycles in Turkey was $1,294 per unit in July 2023. This marked a decrease of -24.6% compared to the previous month. However, the overall trend showed a relatively flat pattern. The import price experienced the highest growth rate in October 2022, with a 54% increase from the previous month. From December 2022 to July 2023, import prices failed to gain momentum after reaching the peak figure of $2,268 per unit in November 2022.

There were significant variations in average prices among the major supplying countries. Germany had the highest price in July 2023 at $11,871 per unit, while China had one of the lowest prices at $527 per unit.

Turkey Motorcycle And Bicycle Import Prices by Type

Prices differed according to the product type. Motorcycles (including mopeds) and cycles fitted with an auxiliary motor, with or without side-cars, had the highest price at $1,342 per unit, while bicycles and other cycles had a price of $370 per unit.

The most noticeable price growth from July 2022 to July 2023 was in bicycles, with a 7.1% increase.

Turkey Motorcycle And Bicycle Imports

Turkey experienced a consecutive three-month growth in motorcycle and bicycle imports, which increased by 53% to 60,000 units in July 2023. Overall, imports showed noticeable expansion, with the highest growth rate observed in May 2023 with a 76% increase from the previous month. In terms of value, imports reached $77 million in July 2023. The most rapid growth rate in value terms occurred in May 2023, with a 63% increase from the previous month.

In July 2023, motorcycles (including mopeds) and cycles fitted with an auxiliary motor, with or without side-cars, accounted for 95% of motorcycle and bicycle imports to Turkey, with 57,000 units. Bicycles and other cycles constituted 2.9% of imports with 2,900 units.

The most significant monthly growth rate in import volume from July 2022 to July 2023 was in motorcycles (including mopeds) and cycles fitted with an auxiliary motor, with or without side-cars, at +5.5%.

In terms of value, motorcycles (including mopeds) and cycles fitted with an auxiliary motor, with or without side-cars, constituted 99% of motorcycle and bicycle imports to Turkey, amounting to $76 million, while bicycles and other cycles accounted for 1.4% with $1.1 million.

Turkey Motorcycle And Bicycle Imports by Country

In July 2023, China was the largest supplier of motorcycles and bicycles to Turkey, with a 66% share of total imports, amounting to 39,000 units. Vietnam followed as the second-largest supplier with 8,900 units, four times less than China. India ranked third with a 6% share and 3,600 units.

The average monthly growth rate in import volume from China was +4.5% from July 2022 to July 2023. Vietnam and India recorded average monthly growth rates of +5.6% and +18.1% respectively.

In terms of value, China, Vietnam, and Italy were the largest suppliers to Turkey, comprising 57% of total imports. India, Japan, Germany, Thailand, France, and Indonesia accounted for a further 35%.

India saw the highest growth rate in import value with a CAGR of +16.3% over the period under review, while the other leading countries experienced more moderate growth rates.
