Japan Paper Hand Towels Import Price in July 2023

In July 2023, the price of paper hand towels in Japan stood at $1,983 per ton, increasing by 3.2% compared to the previous month. The import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern, with the most rapid growth occurring in December 2022 when it increased by 15% from the previous month. Although the import price peaked at $2,161 per ton in February 2023, it stayed at a slightly lower figure from March to July 2023.

Prices varied based on the country of origin, with the United States having the highest price at $5,346 per ton, while Indonesia had one of the lowest prices at $1,529 per ton.

Between July 2022 and July 2023, the United States experienced the most notable price growth at 0.8%, while other major suppliers had mixed trend patterns.

In July 2023, Japan imported approximately 15,000 tons of paper hand towels, which was a 6.4% decrease compared to June 2023. The most significant growth was observed in March 2023, with a 28% increase compared to the previous month.

The value of paper hand towels imports slightly decreased to $31 million in July 2023, with an average monthly growth rate of 1.6% between July 2022 and July 2023. The most rapid growth occurred in August 2022, with a 36% increase compared to the previous month.

In July 2023, China was the largest supplier of paper hand towels to Japan, accounting for a 60% share of total imports. China's import volume showed an average monthly growth rate of 1.4% between July 2022 and July 2023. Indonesia was the second-largest supplier with a 23% share of total imports.

In terms of value, China constituted 53% of total imports, followed by Indonesia with a 23% share. China's import value showed a relatively modest average monthly growth rate, while Indonesia and the United States recorded higher average monthly growth rates.
