In June 2023, the import of preserved asparagus in Spain saw a significant surge, with overseas purchases increasing by 19% to reach 2.1K tons. This marked the second consecutive month of growth after a decline in the previous two months. Overall, imports experienced mild growth, with the most rapid increase recorded in July 2022, at 45% compared to the previous month. In terms of value, the import of preserved asparagus in June 2023 reached $7.4 million, according to IndexBox estimates. This signifies a substantial increase and continues the trend of mild growth. The most rapid growth was observed in July 2022, with a 65% increase compared to the previous month. China and Peru were the main suppliers of preserved asparagus imports to Spain, with China accounting for 1.1K tons and Peru for 918 tons. Between June 2022 and June 2023, China demonstrated the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, with a CAGR of +9.2%. In terms of value, China ($3.8 million) and Peru ($3.5 million) constituted the largest preserved asparagus suppliers to Spain. China also exhibited the highest growth rates in import value, with a CAGR of +9.0% over the analyzed period. The import price of preserved asparagus in Spain was $3,595 per ton in June 2023 (CIF), experiencing a 9.3% growth compared to the previous month. While the import price demonstrated a relatively flat trend, the most significant rate of growth was observed in July 2022, with a 14% increase compared to the previous month. The import price reached its peak at $3,884 per ton in January 2023, but from February to June 2023, it remained slightly lower. Peru exhibited the highest average price in June 2023, with $3,855 per ton, while China's price stood at $3,404 per ton. From June 2022 to June 2023, Peru displayed the most notable growth rate in terms of prices, at +1.4%.
