Turkey Frozen Fruit Export Price in March 2023

In March 2023, the price of frozen fruit in Turkey dropped to $2,606 per ton (FOB, Turkey), experiencing a decline of -4.8% compared to the previous month. Despite this decrease, the overall export price remained relatively stable, with the most significant growth observed in October 2022 at an increase of 13% month-on-month. The export price reached its peak at $2,738 per ton in February 2023 and then slightly declined in the following month.

The price of frozen fruit varied across different destination countries. Portugal had the highest price at $4,652 per ton, while Serbia had one of the lowest average prices at $1,812 per ton.

Over the period from March 2022 to March 2023, the most substantial price growth was observed in exports to Portugal (+19.8%), while other major destinations experienced more modest increases.

Turkey Frozen Fruit Export Prices by Type

There were significant variations in prices among the major types of frozen fruit exports. Frozen raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, loganberries, black, white, or red currants, and gooseberries had the highest price at $5,758 per ton, whereas frozen strawberries had one of the lowest average prices at $2,369 per ton.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable price growth was recorded for frozen fruits and nuts (excluding strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, loganberries, black, white, or red currants, and gooseberries) (+1.2%), while other types of products experienced mixed trends.

Turkey Frozen Fruit Exports

In March 2023, Turkey's frozen fruit shipments increased by 9.3% to reach 3.7K tons, marking the second consecutive month of growth after two months of decline. However, overall exports showed a slight setback. The highest rate of growth occurred in June 2022 with a 52% increase compared to the previous month.

In terms of value, frozen fruit exports in March 2023 slightly rose to $9.6M (according to IndexBox estimates). The overall trend in exports remained relatively flat, with the most rapid growth observed in June 2022, recording a 48% increase compared to the previous month.

Turkey's main frozen fruit exports consisted of frozen fruits and nuts (excluding strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, loganberries, black, white, or red currants, and gooseberries) (1.8K tons), frozen strawberries (1.8K tons), and frozen raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, loganberries, black, white, or red currants, and gooseberries (18 tons).

From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable growth in shipments among the major product types was seen in frozen raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, loganberries, black, white, or red currants, and gooseberries (+31.4%), while other products had mixed trend patterns.

In terms of value, the most exported types of frozen fruits from Turkey were frozen fruits and nuts (excluding strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, loganberries, black, white, or red currants, and gooseberries) ($5.2M), frozen strawberries ($4.3M), and frozen raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, loganberries, black, white, or red currants, and gooseberries ($106K). Frozen raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, loganberries, black, white, or red currants, and gooseberries experienced the highest growth rate in exports at +31.2%, while other product categories had mixed trends.

Turkey Frozen Fruit Exports by Country

The main destinations for Turkey's frozen fruit exports were the United States (558 tons), Germany (547 tons), and Canada (420 tons), which together accounted for 41% of total exports. Italy, the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Japan, Taiwan (Chinese), Serbia, Portugal, and South Korea followed, accounting for an additional 51%.

From March 2022 to March 2023, Portugal experienced the most significant growth in shipments among the main destination countries, with a CAGR of +490.2%, while other leading countries had more modest growth rates.

In terms of value, the largest markets for frozen fruit exports from Turkey were the United States ($1.7M), the UK ($1.5M), and Germany ($1.2M), accounting for 46% of total exports. Canada, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Japan, Portugal, Taiwan (Chinese), Serbia, and South Korea accounted for a further 48%. Portugal showed the highest growth in export value with a CAGR of +606.8%, while other leading countries had more modest growth rates.
