Germany's Mineral Wool Export Price Declines to $1,527 per Ton in May 2023

In May 2023, the export price of mineral wool from Germany experienced a modest decline, reaching $1,527 per ton. This reflects a decrease of -4.7% compared to the previous month. However, when looking at the overall trend from May 2022 to May 2023, the export price showed moderate growth, increasing at an average monthly rate of +2.6% over the twelve-month period. Throughout this analyzed period, there were noticeable fluctuations in the trend pattern. In January 2023, the export price reached its peak level of $1,742 per ton with a month-to-month growth rate of 17%. From February 2023 to May 2023, the average export prices failed to regain momentum. Significant differences in average prices were observed for different overseas markets, with Slovenia having the highest price of $2,838 per ton and Austria having one of the lowest prices at $1,119 per ton. Notably, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovenia (+10.5%) from May 2022 to May 2023. In May 2023, Germany exported approximately 12,000 tons of mineral wool, indicating a growth of 18% compared to April 2023. However, overall, exports experienced a considerable descent. The value of mineral wool exports reached $18 million in May 2023, with the most significant growth observed in February 2023 with a 29% increase compared to the previous month. Austria, Switzerland, and the Netherlands were the main destinations for Germany's mineral wool exports, accounting for 65% of the total exports. Among these, the Netherlands had the highest growth rate in terms of value exports with a CAGR of +4.4% from May 2022 to May 2023.
