In June 2023, the price of blueberries and cranberries in Hong Kong was $10,235 per ton (CIF, Hong Kong), which remained the same as the previous month. The import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern during the review period. The highest price among the major supplying countries was $10,596 per ton from Peru, while Morocco had a price of $9,628 per ton.

Chile experienced the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices, with an increase of 8.3% from June 2022 to June 2023. On the other hand, the prices for the other major suppliers declined.

In June 2023, blueberry and cranberry imports into Hong Kong decreased significantly to 210 tons, marking a -47% decline compared to May 2023. Overall, imports showed a slight contraction. The most rapid growth in import volume occurred in August 2022, with a 316% month-on-month increase.

In terms of value, blueberry and cranberry imports into Hong Kong dropped notably to $2.1M (IndexBox estimates) in June 2023. Import values experienced a mild reduction. The highest rate of growth in import value was recorded in August 2022 when imports increased by 212% compared to the previous month.

Hong Kong Blueberry And Cranberry Imports by Country

In June 2023, Zimbabwe constituted the largest supplier of blueberries and cranberries to Hong Kong, accounting for a 56% share of total imports. Zimbabwe's imports exceeded the volume of the second-largest supplier, Morocco, by four times. China ranked third in this list with a 5% share.

From June 2022 to June 2023, Zimbabwe showed an average monthly growth rate of +5.9% in volume, while Morocco experienced a growth rate of +8.6% per month, and China saw a decline of -9.1% per month.

In terms of value, Zimbabwe was the largest supplier to Hong Kong with a 54% share of total imports, followed by Morocco with a 12% share. South Africa accounted for 5% of the total imports.

From June 2022 to June 2023, Zimbabwe exhibited an average monthly growth rate of +5.7% in import value, while Morocco showed a growth rate of +8.3% per month, and South Africa saw a growth rate of +8.5% per month.
