In July 2023, Thailand experienced a significant decline in tin exports, with a decrease of 28.3% compared to the previous month's figures. Despite this decline, overall exports have shown a relatively flat trend. The most rapid growth was observed in June 2023, with a staggering increase of 302% month-on-month.

In terms of value, tin exports from Thailand dropped to $9.6M in July 2023. Similar to the export volume, the overall trend in export value remained relatively steady. The highest growth rate was recorded in June 2023, with a 315% month-on-month increase, reaching a peak of $12M before sharply declining in the following month.

South Korea (105 tons), Japan (82 tons), and the Netherlands (50 tons) were the primary destinations for tin exports from Thailand, accounting for a combined 71% share of the total exports.

From July 2022 to July 2023, South Korea experienced the highest growth rate among the main destination countries, with a CAGR of +5.5%, while other leading countries had slower growth.

In terms of value, South Korea ($2.9M), Japan ($2.4M), and the Netherlands ($1.3M) were the largest markets for tin exported from Thailand, comprising 70% of the total exports.

Export Prices by Country

In July 2023, the tin price per ton (FOB, Thailand) was $28,672, showing a growth rate of 7.6% compared to the previous month. The overall export price trend remained relatively stable, with the most significant growth observed in September 2022 when the average export price increased by 74% compared to the previous month. The export price reached its peak in July 2023.

The average prices varied for different foreign markets. The United States ($30,691 per ton) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($30,256 per ton) had the highest prices, while the Netherlands ($26,689 per ton) and South Korea ($27,959 per ton) had relatively lower average export prices.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the United States saw the most notable growth rate in export prices, with an increase of 2.0%, while the other major destination countries experienced slower growth in prices.
