Italian Quilted Textile Products Experience a 14% Price Surge, Averaging $24.2 per kg

Italy Quilted Textile Products Export Price in April 2023

In April 2023, the price of quilted textile products reached an average of $24,193 per ton (FOB, Italy), marking a 14% increase compared to the previous month. The export price showed a relatively stable trend overall, with the most significant growth occurring in June 2022, when it rose by 27% month-to-month, reaching a peak price of $27,187 per ton. From July 2022 to April 2023, the average export prices remained slightly lower.

There were notable variations in average prices for different overseas markets. The United Kingdom had the highest price at $76,818 per ton in April 2023, while Albania had one of the lowest average prices at $12,081 per ton.

During April 2022 to April 2023, the most substantial price increase was observed in exports to the UK, which rose by 13.1%. Other major destinations experienced more moderate growth rates.

Italy Quilted Textile Products Exports

In April 2023, shipments of quilted textile products in the piece (excluding embroidery) declined significantly by 33.4% to 78 tons, following three months of growth. Overall, exports continued to show a mild reduction trend. The most rapid growth was observed in September 2022, with a 129% increase compared to the previous month.

In terms of value, quilted textile products exports sharply contracted to $1.9 million in April 2023, according to IndexBox estimates. Over the reviewed period, exports demonstrated a relatively stable trend. The highest pace of growth was recorded in September 2022, with a 94% increase compared to the previous month.

Italy Quilted Textile Products Exports by Country

Romania was the primary destination for quilted textile products exports from Italy, accounting for a 33% share of the total exports with 26 tons. Export volume to Romania surpassed the second leading destination, Hungary, by threefold, with 10 tons. France ranked third, with a 7.2% share and 5.6 tons of exports.

From April 2022 to April 2023, the average monthly growth rate in volume to Romania was relatively modest. Exports to Hungary and France experienced slight monthly decreases of 1.7% and 0.6%, respectively.

In value terms, Romania remained the key foreign market for quilted textile products exports from Italy, constituting a 24% share of the total exports, amounting to $452,000. Hungary held the second position, with an 11% share and $208,000 worth of exports. France followed with an 8.9% share.

From April 2022 to April 2023, the average monthly growth rate in value to Romania was relatively modest. Exports to Hungary and France showed small monthly declines of 0.4% and increases of 0.3%, respectively.
