Hong Kong Peach And Nectarine Import Price in May 2023

In May 2023, the price of peaches and nectarines in Hong Kong rose to $10,635 per ton, showing a significant increase of 376% compared to the previous month. The import price experienced overall positive growth, reaching record highs at $11,049 per ton in July 2022. However, from August 2022 to May 2023, import prices remained relatively lower.

Prices varied depending on the country of origin, with Japan having the highest price at $22,379 per ton, while Australia offered peaches and nectarines at a lower price of $8,298 per ton.

During the period from May 2022 to May 2023, Chile showed the most notable price growth of 0.5%, while other major suppliers experienced a decline in prices.

In May 2023, the import of peaches and nectarines to Hong Kong declined by -85% to 70 tons, marking the third consecutive month of decline after three months of growth. The overall trend showed a significant downturn. The most significant growth rate was observed in January 2023, with a 992% month-to-month increase in imports.

In terms of value, peach and nectarine import value sharply dropped to $740K (IndexBox estimates) in May 2023. Imports during the review period experienced a deep slump. The highest growth rate was recorded in January 2023, with a 564% month-to-month increase in imports.

Hong Kong Peach And Nectarine Imports by Country

Japan, China, and Spain were the main suppliers of peach and nectarine imports to Hong Kong, accounting for 83% of total imports. Egypt, the Netherlands, Turkey, and Australia followed behind, contributing another 15% to the total imports. The Netherlands showed the highest increase in CAGR at +21.5% from May 2022 to May 2023, while other leading suppliers experienced relatively modest growth rates.

In terms of value, Japan constituted the largest supplier with a 79% share of total imports, followed by Spain with 9.3% and the Netherlands with 2.8%. From May 2022 to May 2023, the average monthly growth rate of value from Japan was -2.5%. Spain and the Netherlands recorded average monthly growth rates of +18.7% and +20.3% respectively for imports.
