Thailand's Canned Pineapple Export Price in June 2023

In June 2023, the price of Thailand's canned pineapple for export stood at $1,065 per ton, remaining relatively stable compared to the previous month. The export price showed a flat trend pattern during the review period, with the highest growth rate recorded in November 2022 at 5.1% month-to-month. The peak level was reached in that month with an export price of $1,197 per ton. From December 2022 to June 2023, the average export prices stayed slightly lower. The average prices for major foreign markets varied, with the United States and Canada having the highest prices at $1,157 and $1,049 per ton, respectively. The lowest average prices were recorded for exports to the United Arab Emirates and Poland, at $890 and $891 per ton, respectively. During the period from June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable growth rate in prices was observed for exports to Australia, with a decrease of 0.2%. Other major destinations experienced a decline in prices. In June 2023, Thailand's canned pineapple exports decreased by 9.8% compared to the previous month, amounting to 27,000 tons. Overall, exports showed a noticeable slump during the review period, with the highest growth rate recorded in May 2023 at 28% increase. In terms of value, canned pineapple exports dropped to $28 million in June 2023. The United States remained the main destination for Thailand's canned pineapple exports, with a 28% share of total exports. The volume of exports to the United States was three times higher than the second major destination, the United Arab Emirates. Iran ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.9% share. For volume and value terms, the United States comprised 30% of Thailand's canned pineapple exports, followed by the United Arab Emirates and Iran with 7.9% and 7.3% shares, respectively. From June 2022 to June 2023, the average monthly growth rates for volume and value to the United States were negative (-7.4% and -7.9%, respectively), while the United Arab Emirates and Iran showed positive growth rates.
