UK Propylene Glycol Imports Decrease to $1,811 per Ton

In April 2023, the import price of propylene glycol in the United Kingdom (UK) declined to $1,811 per ton, showing a decrease of -1.8% compared to the previous month. The import price experienced a significant decline overall, with the most notable growth occurring in February 2023, where the average import price increased by 49% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $3,143 per ton in April 2022 but failed to regain momentum from May 2022 to April 2023. Among the major supplying countries, South Korea and Germany had the highest prices at $1,942 and $1,864 per ton, respectively, while the Netherlands and China had comparatively lower prices. South Korea also experienced a slight rate of growth in prices, while the other major suppliers saw a decline. The UK imported 1.7K tons of propylene glycol in April 2023, which marked a 30% increase from the previous month. Although imports showed mild expansion in general, the most significant rate of growth occurred in May 2022, with a 160% month-to-month increase that reached the peak of 3.8K tons. However, imports failed to regain momentum from June 2022 to April 2023. In terms of value, propylene glycol imports amounted to $3.1M in April 2023, indicating a perceptible contraction over the review period. France constituted the largest supplier to the UK, with a 63% share of total imports, followed by Germany with a fourfold lesser figure, and the Netherlands with a 5.9% share. France also had the highest value of imports, with a 61% share, followed by Germany and the Netherlands. The average monthly rates of growth in volume and value of imports from France were positive, while the remaining supplying countries showed mixed growth rates or declines.
