The Mean Price of Computer Storage Devices Imported to the U.S. is $190 per Unit

In July 2023, the import price of computer storage devices in the United States stood at $190 per unit. This price remained stable compared to the previous month. However, the overall import price showed a relatively flat trend. The most rapid growth was observed in September 2022, with a 15% increase compared to the previous month. During the review period, average import prices reached a peak of $250 per unit in October 2022. After November 2022, import prices remained at a lower level until July 2023. There were significant price differences among the major supplying countries. Thailand had the highest price in July 2023 at $145 per unit, while China had one of the lowest prices at $66.4 per unit. The notable rate of price growth from July 2022 to July 2023 was achieved by Taiwan, with a decrease of -0.3%. Conversely, the prices for other major suppliers experienced a decline. In July 2023, overseas purchases of computer storage devices decreased by -15.9% to 2.6 million units. This decline occurred for the second consecutive month following two months of growth. Overall, imports showed a noticeable curtailment. The most significant growth was observed in February 2023, with a 28% increase compared to the previous month. Import values declined rapidly to $502 million in July 2023, indicating a deep setback. April 2023 had the most rapid growth in import values, with a 19% month-on-month increase. Thailand was the largest supplier of computer storage devices to the United States in July 2023, accounting for 67% of total imports. The Philippines followed as the second-largest supplier with a sixfold lower figure. Thailand also constituted the largest supplier in terms of import value, followed by the Philippines and Taiwan. The average monthly growth rate of volume and value from Thailand to the United States showed a negative trend during the period from July 2022 to July 2023. The remaining supplying countries, including the Philippines and Taiwan, also experienced decreases in average monthly rates of imports growth.
