In July 2023, the import price of linseed in Italy was $639 per ton (CIF, Italy), showing minimal change from the previous month. However, over the review period, the import price experienced a significant decline. The highest rate of growth was observed in December 2022, with an 8.3% increase compared to the previous month. Although the import price reached a peak of $913 per ton in August 2022, it remained somewhat lower from September 2022 to July 2023. Prices varied depending on the country of origin, with Belgium having the highest price at $892 per ton, while Germany had one of the lowest prices at $542 per ton. From July 2022 to July 2023, Belgium experienced the most notable growth rate in terms of prices, with a decrease of 2.4%, while other major suppliers saw a decline. In July 2023, Italy's linseed imports surged to 3K tons, a 20% increase compared to the previous month. However, overall imports showed a relatively flat trend. The most rapid growth in import volume occurred in November 2022, with a 192% increase compared to the previous month, reaching a peak of 6K tons. From December 2022 to July 2023, import growth failed to regain momentum. In terms of value, linseed imports in July 2023 reached $1.9M, but saw a noticeable curtailment over the review period. The most rapid growth in import value occurred in November 2022, with a 145% increase compared to the previous month, reaching a peak of $4.4M. From December 2022 to July 2023, import growth remained somewhat lower. The main suppliers of linseed imports to Italy were Poland, Russia, and Slovenia, accounting for 73% of total imports. Poland was the largest supplier in terms of value at $680K, followed by Russia ($423K) and Slovenia ($206K), collectively representing 69% of total imports. Among the main suppliers, France saw the highest growth rate in terms of purchases, with a CAGR of +46.6%, while the other leaders experienced more modest growth rates.
