Japan Straight Saw Blade Import Price in July 2023

In July 2023, the import price for straight saw blades in Japan reached $31,244 per ton (CIF, Japan), registering a 15% increase compared to the previous month. The price of these blades has been rising steadily at an average monthly rate of 2.8% between July 2022 and July 2023. The most significant growth occurred in August 2022, with a 50% month-to-month increase. Although the average import price reached a peak of $34,214 per ton in April 2023, it slightly declined to a lower figure from May 2023 to July 2023.

Among the major supplying countries, Switzerland had the highest price in July 2023 at $53,029 per ton, while the United States had one of the lowest prices at $20,312 per ton.

China experienced the most notable price growth, with a 7.5% increase, while other major suppliers saw more modest price increases.

In July 2023, Japan imported approximately 9.4 tons of straight saw blades for working metal, showing a significant decline of 55.5% compared to the previous month. Overall, imports witnessed a steep slump, with the most rapid growth occurring in January 2023, when imports increased by 189% month-to-month.

The value of straight saw blade imports also experienced a remarkable decrease, totaling $293K in July 2023. In January 2023, there was a substantial 208% increase in imports compared to the previous month, reaching a peak of $594K. From February 2023 to July 2023, the growth of imports remained at a relatively lower level.

The United States (5 tons), Switzerland (2.5 tons), and Germany (1.2 tons) were the main suppliers of straight saw blade imports to Japan, accounting for 93% of total imports.

Germany experienced the highest growth rate in terms of purchases, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.3%. Meanwhile, the other leading suppliers saw more modest increases in imports.

In terms of value, the largest suppliers of straight saw blades to Japan were Switzerland ($135K), the United States ($102K), and Germany ($35K), together comprising 93% of total imports. Germany also had the highest growth rate in the value of imports, with a CAGR of 9.0%, while the other top suppliers saw slower growth rates.
