China Pimenta Pepper Export Price in June 2023

In June 2023, the export price of pimenta peppers in China was $2,997 per ton, remaining relatively stable compared to the previous month. The export price showed a flat trend overall, with the highest growth rate observed in August 2022, reaching a peak of $3,092 per ton. From September 2022 to June 2023, the average export prices remained lower. Significant differences were observed in the average prices for major foreign markets, with Japan having the highest price at $4,493 per ton, while South Africa had one of the lowest prices at $1,810 per ton.

The most notable price growth in terms of supplies to foreign markets was recorded for Russia, with a 2.9% increase from June 2022 to June 2023. Other major destinations experienced more modest growth rates.

China Pimenta Pepper Exports

In June 2023, China witnessed a decline in pimenta pepper shipments abroad for the third consecutive month, with a decrease of 10.3% to 25,000 tons. However, overall exports showed a notable increase from June 2022 to June 2023, with an average monthly growth rate of 2.4% over the last twelve months. Fluctuations were observed throughout the analyzed period, and based on June 2023 figures, exports decreased by 23.0% compared to March 2023.

The value of pimenta pepper exports dropped to $76 million in June 2023, based on IndexBox estimates. Over the review period, a perceptible growth in total exports was observed, with an average monthly growth rate of 2.9% from June 2022 to June 2023. Fluctuations were also recorded, with exports in June 2023 decreasing by 21.2% compared to March 2023.

China Pimenta Pepper Exports by Country

The main destination for pimenta pepper exports from China was Spain, accounting for a 23% share of total exports. Spain received double the volume of pimenta pepper compared to the second major destination, the United States. South Korea ranked third in terms of total exports with an 8.9% share.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the average monthly growth rate of volume to Spain was 2.5%, while the United States and South Korea had growth rates of 2.2% and 6.8% per month, respectively.

In terms of value, Spain, the United States, and Malaysia were the largest markets for pimenta pepper exported from China, comprising 41% of total exports. Israel recorded the highest growth rate in the value of exports with a CAGR of 6.7% over the review period.
