Rosin and Resin Acids Prices Soar to Peak of $3,771 per Ton in Netherlands

In April 2023, the price of rosin and resin acids in the Netherlands reached an all-time high of $3,771 per ton. This marked a 27% surge compared to the previous month. The export price had been steadily increasing at an average monthly rate of 2.9% since April 2022, indicating continued growth in the near future. The average prices for rosin and resin acids varied significantly among different overseas markets. In April 2023, the United States had the highest price at $6,604 per ton, while Sweden had one of the lowest prices at $1,549 per ton. Among the major destinations, Luxembourg experienced the most notable price growth from April 2022 to April 2023, with a 7.4% increase. Other major destinations saw more modest price increases. In terms of exports, rosin and resin acids shipments from the Netherlands increased by 1.3% to 2.4K tons in April 2023, marking the second consecutive month of growth after three months of decline. Overall, exports showed a relatively flat trend. The value of rosin and resin acids exports in April 2023 was estimated at $9.1M. From April 2022 to April 2023, total exports had a temperate expansion with an average monthly growth rate of 3.9%. However, there were noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The main destination for rosin and resin acids exports from the Netherlands was Belgium, accounting for 58% of total exports. Germany and Sweden were the second and third major destinations, respectively. Exports to Belgium saw an average monthly growth rate of 20.4% from April 2022 to April 2023, while exports to Sweden experienced a significant growth rate of 61.0% per month. Meanwhile, exports to Germany showed a decrease of 9.6% per month. In terms of value, Belgium remained the top foreign market for rosin and resin acids exports from the Netherlands, comprising 64% of total exports. Germany and the United States followed behind with 7.9% and 6.4% shares, respectively. Exports to Belgium had an average monthly value growth rate of 26.0% from April 2022 to April 2023, while exports to Germany declined by 6.9% per month and exports to the United States increased by 7.3% per month.
